Thank you all for the great response to my shot of the lighthouse at New Brighton from last friday. I made a rare trip to the PP with it yesterday, a place where I am always happy to spend some time!
I will try and pop a colour version on the site later today, but here is a different view. Several more to come this week of this place. I have a very busy week (more so than the usual!) so am planning to give the camera a rest and use shots from New Brighton and the Grand National all week.
An entirely different feeling to this one with the change of tide and a leading line that goes away from the lighthouse. Its a beauty, but my favorite is still the first one.
This disrupts my expectations of a scene like this. The causeway takes my eye out of the frame, left, while the lighthouse sharply drags it back … so rather than my eye freely being led to survey the scene I am kicked back and forth between left and right. It creates such tension! Love it, Sean!
What a wonderful series of shots of the lighthouse, Sean. They really show how you can compose a scene in so many different ways. I think this one may be my favorite...but it's awfully hard to choose!
