The Ale Stop in Buxton. Part of a growing phenomenon in the UK called the Micropub.
For the uninitiated, the Micropub is a small one or two room pub that serves great ale and conversation. There is no food, no keg lager, no fruit machines, no pool table....in many there is no music, but the Ale Stop has a record player playing all sorts of eclectic vinyl. It is a cracking place for a pint or three!
I have visited several of these across the Midlands in recent months, and love the concept. They are owned and run by very knowledgeable people, who are passionate about real ale.
They offer an ever changing selection of ales from around the UK so it is unlikely that you would drink the same beer twice if you called in every day for a year!
I popped back to this one on Wednesday and sold him a barrel of my own beer from my microbrewery.
@darylo :-), you always make me smile Daryl. I figure that I am here for a good time, not a long time. BTW, I cannot knit, make pastry, do car maintenance, swim, play a musical instrument, speak languages well......The list goes on, and on, and on, and on......
