This is actually the Church of St Giles in the tiny hamlet of Kellaways which I pass on the way to work every morning.
It's not the most interesting of Churches to look at IMHO - that's why I decided to try and give it some HDR treatment and the whole thing has been a total learning curve.
It didn't come out quite as expected, but then I didn't know quite what to expect, if you know what I mean!
Agree totally with mizhayz, this is a great composition (rule of thirds etc.) and the HDR isn't too obvious. Took a few shots myself last week fr HDR, you're right, the final result wasn't exactly what I envisaged, but I did like the result.
The Sky is superb as is the rest of the composition a real lesson for all in thirds: HDR I always get mixed results and end up tone using histogram to get desired image, I don't go anywhere near the presets
Great shot. Love the composition. I can't comment on the HDR as I only tried it myself for the first time last weekend, but I know this image is far better than my attempt!
@dave_rv@ch1ppy_m1nton@paul2782 Thanks guys - definitely need more practice with the HDR. Don't know how you guys are doing it, but I used Photoshop and didn't find the adjustment sliders in Photoshop much use to be fair. Found myself combining the shots in Photoshop and then coming back into Lightroom to just pull the detail out of the shadows. Don't think I got it quite right, but welcome any advice.
I did feel the same way though after my PP shot. (I've only ever had one, and I thought - how am I going to better that!) I've quickly forgotten that and just got on with enjoying the project though (but I DO check the PP every day - Just In Case! lol)
@gailmmeek Absolutely the right attitude - to be honest, the shot just happened, and I I still don't think it's my best one. But who am I to judge? The great thing is that this project is making me use the camera, and I think I am improving, and it's introducing me to such a great community!
