We have several Red Trilliums [Trillium erectum] growing on our property. The white version of this plant is our Provincial flower [Ontario, Canada] and can be seen in abundance in the woodland settings in north eastern North America. Red ones and pink ones are not as common. I know a keen plant enthusiast who goes for miles, photographing four, five and six petaled versions of all colours, which are all extremely rare.
I wish I could find a red trillium here in Michigan...I took a few shots of the white ones in the wetlands nearby. The deer love to eat them though so they are few and far between. Very beautiful flower and shot!
Fantastic, Anne! Instant fave! I was taught in school that it is illegal to pick a trillium because it takes seven years to produce a flower, so it's almost sacred in this province!
@farfaraway Thank you very much Robert! I actually like some of my other pics better but am very happy that at least this one caught the attention of so many. lol
