The mosquitoes were so bad that i only clicked off a couple of pics. The very first one was this shot of a much loved perennial geranium --- a perfectly mounding plant with fragrant leaves and beautiful tiny fuchsia-coloured flowers.
I guess these two bugs like the plant too! I thought at first they were mosquitoes [mosquitoes on the brain these days] but after seeing them in the photo, I ddin't know what they were. Thanks to Trina's suggestion [@5unflow3r], the discussion forum led to an id from Robert Velten. "They are Stilt Bugs, true bugs in the family Berytidae. If you look closely at the original larger version image the upper one shows the piercing mouthparts they use on plants and sometimes other insects." Thanks Robert! @robv
Thanks for dropping by. Each and every bit of feedback is read and appreciated!
great flower. Love the bokeh from the water drops. Don't know the bugs but we have mosquitos here too - a lot of them and they are about the size of houseflies this year. It is all this rain here too :(
You can start a discussion with your photo in it and I'll bet someone will identify your bugs. I did that earlier today and within a short period of time, I had an answer.
Mosquito season has started in Chicagoland already. I think maybe because it's been so wet.
Love the crazy stamens on your flowers,,,WOW!
