St David is the patron saint of Wales and the daffodil is the national flower. The daffodils in our garden are only just beginning to come out, just in time for St David's Day. Fortunately it wasn't raining this morning (or snowing or sleeting) so I was able to go outside and photograph the first of them.
I'm not Welsh, I'm English but I live in Wales so it's appropriate for me to wish you all A Happy St David's Day.
@merrelyn Thank you Merrelyn. We have hundreds in the garden and they're only just beginning to come out. Today is the first time I've taken photos of them. I'm sure there'll be many more.
@susiemc Seeing fields of daffodils blooming when we visited Holland a few years ago was fabulous. I'm lucky if I get one or two to bloom and they never seem to regrow :(
This is beautiful. I love those flowers, and I am trying to learn how to take a close up pic of them. I am always missing something, But I will get there. I don't have them in my garden. They are called NARCIS in my language. They are pretty and they know it!
Spring nearly sprung. Over here, the daffs have suddenly appeared! Much later than last year, but out. Our snowdrops have been great but these are getting past their best now.
@merrelyn We're very lucky with daffodils, they grow really well in our garden and every year they multiply. Wherever you at the moment there are daffodils everywhere, in people's gardens, on the grass verges, in parks etc. It's lovely.
@cherrymartina Thank you Martina. I LOVE taking pictures of flowers as you can tell. With lots of practice I think I'm getting better at it. I like to stand quite a long way from the flower and use the zoom so I get a blurry background. It's easy but it took me a long time to realise it :(
They are called 'narcis' in my language too...
