I was so happy this morning when I woke to find it was raining for the first time in weeks. The garden was so very dry and we had completetly emptied the water butts by watering those those plants which would not have survived otherwise. As we are getting more and more long dry spells we're trying to find more drought tolerant plants and collect rainwater wherever we can. It uses such a lot of energy to purify tap water so I hate to have to use it to water the garden.
Beautiful. Those Heuchera come in such lovely leaf colours these days. I used to have a number of these in the garden but, over the years, most of them have disappeared. I think the winters here are hard on them. Repeated cycles of freeze and thaw seem to cause the centre of the plant to heave out of the ground and then, either the frost, or dryness kills them.
Such a beautiful color and the raindrops make it all the better. They are hard to keep looking pretty in Oklahoma as the sun will eventually "cook" the leaves in the summer.
Wow! Amazing plant and colours. Beautiful freshness with the rain drops. Up to some years ago people building their house had to have a well dug in their yard to store rain water collected from roofs for irrigation and other purposes because of lack of rain during the hot dry summers. With the advent of apartment blocks with underground garages or parking spaces these regulations are no longer enforcement. One thing I looked for when buying my house
