It's always interesting to see what foods in Taiwan must go together. One thing that always astonishes me is how in Taiwan you MUST drink coke with pizza. granted in america we often drink soda with pizza, but in Taiwan it's absolutely necessary to drink coke when eating pizza. i have seen people not eat pizza just because there wasn't any coke. Only to be lectured that "pizza must be with coke."
I get it. it's kind of like how for us cake/cookies must be accompanied by milk. yes you could eat them without a glass of milk, but it just leaves an uncomfortable feeling in your mouth.
If you are a clever foreigner you can use this to your advantage and get pizza but not any coke, and pretend you didn't know the "rule." then it's more pizza for you! not that the above picture sans coke is any indication that I would ever do this.
Actually even though I never drink soda, I always have a back up bottle of coke in my fridge for my guests. Just in case we ever get pizza, or they are developing a cold. warmed coke is often drunk to fight off a cold.
You will also note that there is a handy carrying ribbon around the pizza. Every pizza place provides this to help you carry the pizza. I have never used it though. The large size of the box, makes it hard to carry it on the side of your body without jostling the contents. Or maybe i'm just too unskilled.
