You are looking at Chiang Kai-Shek memorial hall. As mentioned before this not where his body is, rather a big park and location to remember him. Inside the building is a statue of him. to the sides are the national concert hall and the national theatre. All enclosed in a large park.
Even though I don't have the highest view of CKS, I do enjoy this park. It's always a nice place to take a stroll. And it has been the setting for a few western tv shows, and even video games. It's always interesting to see what the western interpretation of this park is like.
By far the most interesting thing about this park is what happens after dark. The doors close at sundown, and that's when most people stop going up there. When it's dark many couples go the dark crevices along the outer wall to.....
Well let's just say it always puts a smile on my face that somebody who repressed and killed many Taiwanese, now provides a place for Taiwanese to openly and freely express their love....and make more Taiwanese.
