...somebody would want to actually live in this somewhat absurd neighborhood. It's because it's right on the beach. As you can see a few are beachfront property, while the ones a few streets behind are on a hill so they all have a clear view of the beach.
You can't see much of the beach from this picture, but it's actually a quite nice one, and on either side are well groomed beaches run by the flanking beach resorts. Also behind this neighborhood are some picturesque mountains.
In fact I am hoping to go back to this area, as the nearby mountain is a great place for paragliding. My big life goal is to go hang-gliding, but there is no commercial hang-gliding in Taiwan. There is paragliding, but Taiwan has the highest accident and fatality rate of paragliding in the world. But after doing some exhaustive research i found that the "safest" place is the organization that runs in the mountain behind this neighborhood. You take off from the mountain and you land on the beach.
While it will be cool to see this zany place from above, I'm not sure if i will actually go. It's not the price, as it's pretty cheap, only about 30 bucks. Nope it's because i worry if something happens to me, there is nobody to take care of my dog. Not sure how ridiculous this is, especially since I always tease a friend of mine whose parents never go on the same flight because should the worst happen they want somebody to be able to take care of the children. But still it seems responsible to not actively participate in a such a dangerous activity.
