Keep Your Head Up...Litterally

There is one picture i've been wanting to take that's been very hard to get. It's a shot of a store that has three different signs for stores that aren't there anymore. In Taiwan when stores move into a location, they sometimes don't change the signs above the store and on the street. So if previously there was an electronics store, but now a home goods store is there, the sign for the electronics store is still there, even thought the store is completely different. This never ceases to lead to confusion cause you think you may have found a store you want, only to see that the sign and the store are not the same thing. Or you may miss something you are looking for cause from the street you can only see the sign and not the actual store.

Recently I was going around town looking for a store that prints ID photos (in Taiwan for almost every kind of form you have to put your photo on it). Finding one is actually harder than you'd expect. Most of the signs i found for this kind of store, when i actually got to the store, it was something completely different. What this meant is that I was forced to just walk around and look in every storefront i passed by to see if they are the kind of shop I was looking for or not. Yes I do know where some shops like this are, but i was determined to find one in my new area.

One day, long after I had given up my search, I came across this sign. Even though it said "ID Photo" i didn't get too excited. The first reason obviously being there is never any real evidence that just cause there is a sign, that there is still a store. It was also hiding among some trees, so it seemed like it had been an abandoned and forgotten sign. The bottom of it also says a cafe, which scared me cause many times places do this, they move in and then to save money they just add something small to the already existing sign. So all evidence pointed to there being no store, well that and the fact that there literally was no building near this sign. Eventually after walking around the area I found this place in an alley. It was in a converted apartment and it was not just cheap but the lady did it in a few minutes. Most places you have to wait a day or two to get your pics. It felt like a nice reward after all my hard work searching for a photo place.
