I've mentioned before that riding along the riverside a common sight to see is people piloting remote control helicopters. On this particular day I was watching a guy flying his helicopter upside down with the greatest of ease.
As I kept going i smiled to myself and thought "that looks like an airplane runway." Seconds later, i said to myself "wait that IS an airplane runway!"
Yep there was a runway along the river just for remote control airplanes. It being such a long runway with even the markings on it like a real runway, seemed a bit excessive though. That is until I saw the airplanes. They aren't the size of the normal remote control planes people use, these things were huge. Larger than a person and needing a team of people to carry.
As I continued on my ride, I tried to get my head around the fact that there is an airplane runway for remote control airplanes. It's oddly specific, but also great that the government made something just for such a small group of people to enjoy their hobby.
