Everybody Dies In The Summer

Summers can be rough in Taiwan, especially for electronics. With the heat, the humidity, lack of insulation in the walls and absolutely no concept of ventilation, it can get pretty nasty indoors. As such every year between March and October, some of my electronics will overheat and die. If you aren't going to have the AC blasting all day long everyday, than prepare for things to die.

TVs, game consoles, computers, you name it. Basically the more expensive it is and the more necessary it is, the more likely it will overheat. A few of my things seem to die like clockwork at the same time each summer. As such I've become very good at making sure that my electronics are well ventilated and that they are kept out of any sunlight. But no matter how cautious you are, things will always melt inside.

The latest victim is my router on the right of the picture. Which has sent me on the wonderful journey of researching the various taiwanese brand routers, trying to get reviews about them, and seeing if they have an English language settings menu. Thankfully a router is probably the cheapest thing that can be replaced, but it's also the most time consuming when it comes to finding the right one.

Oh well, that's just the cost of living in Taiwan. The cost of living is low, but if you ever consider living here, make sure you budget either replacing or repairing your electronics often.
