Candy Bird

I have a friend who absolutely loves graffiti and will always stop to take pictures of it if he ever passes by some. While his mom absolutely hates graffiti as though graffiti is killing people. It's interesting to see such extremes about graffiti, but love it or hate it, graffiti to me seems as though it is the absolute definition of art. Meaning it's about expressing yourself for all to see, without care of money nor fame. Art for art's sake.

Granted not all graffiti is good, and "tagging" where people just write their name or logo, is boring and repetitive. However the above artist is one of the few who I think everybody could call a true artist. He/She goes by the name Candy Bird, and you can find his/her art all over the city. Usually it's on abandoned places that are within the city, i.e. old or rundown buildings that people are force to pass day in and day out. So i feel the artist is doing a lot for the city by bringing art and beauty to those eye sores.

If you'd like to see more of his/her art, a google search of "candy bird taipei graffiti" will bring up a lot of photos. Enjoy!
