Taiwan has the lowest birth rate in the world. There are several reasons for this, with perhaps the biggest reason being the insane cost of real estate. Many people don't want to have a family if they can't afford their own house.
Which I commend. I think if you have children than you need to put them first. There is a lot of unhealthy and cheap food outside which I think if that's all you can afford, than it's inappropriate to have a kid, you should only have a kid if you can give them the best things possible.
But this has extended out to me thinking what is the best country to have a kid. What i mean is I think if you are going to have a kid you should be willing to give them the best life possible. In Taiwan the education system is torture for children. So I always think if you have a child and will love that child, why live in Taiwan? Wouldn't it be better for your kid if he/she grew up in Sweden?
I also think about how in some ways growing up in Taiwan is a bit boring. That there is not the absurdly wide variety of entertainment and toys that you can find in other countries. I always think about how in Taiwan there really are no sports to watch, I really feel that kids are missing out.
Then again this toy car changed my mind a bit. You may think that with all the new toys and electronics, that a toy car just can't cute it anymore. But I was playing with this car, and I must admit it was quite fun. And the fun I had opened my eyes. Yes growing up in Taiwan is still not the best thing, but it could be worse.
