Good Morning Poppo by terryliv

Good Morning Poppo

Just about every morning (when they are not breeding), this pair of magpies come to the kitchen window and serenade me. Of course, their reward for their performance is a handout of dog mince.

Their carolling is beautiful and this pair seem to have developed their own individual repertoire.

How beautiful! What song do they sing?

@gigiflower Beethoven Symphony No.9 - Song of Joy :-)
They do the normal carolling type singing but at the end, they do this oooeeeeeeeeooo which I reckon they have composed themselves. We know when it is coming and conduct them in their performance.

There has been a couple of magpies visit our local coffee shop over the past week and one of them barks like a dog. I couldn't believe it.

They are such clever birds. We have a wind chime next to our kitchen window and one of our magpies used to sit on the window sill and pull on the wind chime to make it ring. A very clever way to get attention.

I'm guessing the one on the left gets first dibs on the dog mince. Looks like he's getting twice as much - and yes, I'm pretty sure that's a he.
