Get a Move on You Kids

Day 24 - Balonne Hwy, SWQ

Between Cunnamulla and St George, we came across quite a few feral goats.

We asked about them in one of the towns we stopped in and apparently they let the numbers build up for a while and then they round them up and do whatever they do with feral goats.

I got out of the car and tried stalking them a few times to get a good clear shot but they were way too smart for me.
Good to keep your distance--those are some serious horns!

Goat meat is quite popular. I notice man has left his litter behind there too.

A fabulous shot of the mother, the little ones seemed a bit wary.

Yes..we were told Terry that they were selling them for around $100 - $120 per live goat....which probably explains why we saw so few sheep and cattle. Has to be a pretty economic option - if you can catch them. They seemed flighty to us too. I am presuming they are for export for the meat trade...also here too, goat is more popular than ever and you see it on restaurant menus now.

So typical - mom's trying to get somewhere and the kids are lagging behind. Great shot.
