One of our family of kookaburras waiting for a feed at the kitchen window.
For the past month or so, our family of about 7 kookaburras has returned to our place and hang out in the trees outside the kitchen waiting for a feed. Based on past experiences, they will likely remain for a few weeks and then just as suddenly as they appeared, they will leave again and we wont see them for a few months. It's all very interesting.
It is also very interesting when all 7 are at the window together. They are ravenous eaters and don't have the best table manners. However, they do allow us to stroke their chests and wings. Fabulous
What a beauty. We have a family of kookaburras that have been visiting us daily for a couple of years. One of them we call onewing because she has a floppy wing, but still manages to fly okay. She turned up today with her hubby and wasn't pleased because we were in Sydney yesterday and couldn't feed them. I didn't know kookaburras knew so many rude words.
What a lovely thing your able to do Terry a great reward for keeping them fed, a superb image of this iconic bird standing out well against the bokeh background :)
