Mum and dad rainbow lorikeet with their three young uns from this season having a feast on our window sill. For me, one of the most distinctive sounds of summer is the laryngitis like screeching of the baby lorikeets.
As an aside, I recently took part in the annual Australia wide backyard bird count and for the fifth straight year, the rainbow lorikeet was the most common bird species in Australian backyards. More than 2.7 million birds were counted during the survey time slot, 305,000 of which were rainbow lorikeets.
Superb capture Terry full of wonderful detail and colour, for a little bird they are very vocal but so pretty we can forgive then, nice to know they are doing well :)

3. Yep, you guessed it, Rainbow Lorikeet
Thanks for the welcome back - it's really good to be here again. I'll have to hunt up those pics you tagged me in.
