After a hot day when a storm comes through, the Crested Pigeons lie on their side on the grass and lift up one wing presumably so the cool air and rain can wash out under their wings.
Many years ago after after a game of golf on a very hot day, I was in the clubhouse when a storm came through and there were about 30 or so Crested Pigeons all lying on the 18th green with their wings up. It was the first time I had seen this behaviour and it looked so funny.
