It's an Ill Wind . . . .

Tropical cyclone Winston was one of the largest cyclones ever to form I the southern hemisphere. It slammed in to the Fijian Islands on 20 Feb killing 44 people and destroying entire villages.
After passing Fiji, it weakened into a tropical low and has continued loitering around the South Pacific and for the past 7 days, has been sending fabulous surf onto the SE Queensland coast. The surfers are having a field day. Notice them all lined up on the LHS just off from the break.
Snapper Rocks is in the centre distance and Rainbow Bay is to their immediate right. The beach at the bottom is Coolangatta.
Looks amazing.

Surfing heaven - looks absolutely amazing but very frightening for anyone in the passage of Winston though.

It's beautiful -- great lighting, fun to think of the surfers there -- and sad to think of the storm that led to having this beautiful scene.

Great shot of this sporting activity. Shame it came of the back of such sadness and destruction on the Fijian islands.

Beautiful image showing us the aftermath of the storm. Hard to think about the devastation it caused especially the loss of life!

So many sets of waves coming in to shore! Great for your local surfers, but sad for those in the path of the cyclone.
