Mallee Ringnecks

Day 24 - St George, SWQ

St George is situated on the Balonne River and once again, there were parks and an excellent walkway along the banks of the river running almost the full length of the town.

It was right on dusk and there were plenty of birds down on the river.
Not much of a photo I know but we had seen Mallee Ringnecks on a number of occasions and I had not managed a decent shot of them so I have posted this one in desperation.

After all of the great place names we had been through, Cunnamulla, Quilpie, Thargomindah, Boulia, Windorah, Jundah etc, it was a real let down to arrive at St George. How boring is that? I'm going to start a petition to get the name changed to one with an aboriginal background.
Never seen a mallee ringneck before either. Thanks for showing me these birds.

You're collecting quite the list, Terry! Another two that I have not seen; my list is growing as well๐Ÿ˜‹

As I was born on St Georges day I should really take offence, but I have to agree the other names are much more interesting.

We never see birds this color in the wild. It is fun to do so!
