Steller's Jay by terryliv

Steller's Jay

Day 11 - Bryce Canyon, Utah

A welcome break from hoodoos and canyons.

If you want to know how he got his crest, see Jane's posting at
https://365project.org/janeandcharlie/365/2017-11-07 Two days ago, I had never heard of a Steller's Jay. Now everybody's got one.

One of the things we noticed while travelling through the south western states of the US was how little bird life there was compared to Australia. In arid country very similar to Nevada, Utah, Arizona and later Colorado that we drove through in Australia just a few months ago, the birdlife was prolific across many species. Apart from a few crows, the birdlife here was almost non existent

We have been back home now for a couple of days and have mostly recovered from the hectic activity of the past 8 weeks and the flight home so I should finally be able to catch up.
My apologies for my lack of comments and thank you for the views and comments on my postings over this time.

Great capture -- strong use of DoF.

The birds really like the riparian areas of the desert, but still, I'm sure they're very sparse compared to Australia.
