Heading north from Durango on the San Juan Scenic Byway (US550) towards Silverton.
After two days of stunning desert scenery, from Durango north, we were treated to some equally stunning mountain forest scenery as we travelled though the San Juan Mountains.
One of the things we were hoping to see in the US was some of the fall colours and once we got into the mountains, the aspens(?) put on a real golden display for us.
