KookaChook by terryliv

KookaChook

Just a follow up on my last two Kookaburra posts.

One morning a couple of years ago and at the start of the great Kookaburra invasion of our house, Rhoda went to shush one of the Kookaburras away after it had got its second piece of meat and instead of flying off, it squatted down on the sill like a chook.

So she picked it up and then wandered around the kitchen with it under her arm. This went on long enough for her to call out to me to come and see and for me to find my camera (always a challenge) and take a few shots.

She then returned it to the window sill and it calmly flew off - still with the piece of meat in its beak.

Since then I reckon we could have repeated this little activity almost every day. They really are very chilled out birds.
aww, great shot

I find it so interesting how tame your urban kookas are, mine are incredibly wild. I have to work hard to get photos of them, just stopping and looking in their direction and they take off 😊
