Of course poor old Dad doesn't get it easy either. While Mum is on the nest, he has to eat enough food to initially feed himself and Mum, but then after the chicks hatch, to feed them also.
Normally they are quite passive birds but during breeding season, the males get a bit aggressive towards each other as they try to protect their source of food.
It's just a pity that they don't spend as much effort on chasing off other birds (cockatoos, lorikeets etc) as they do on chasing off each other.
