Nugget is an immature Pied Butcher Bird and is one of last years babies. He will gain his adult black and white plumage in a few months time after his first moult.
Nugget has been very busy over the last few weeks helping his parents raise this years clutch of babies by finding food for them and taking it back to the nest.
So why Nugget? Well if you look between his legs, you can see the tips of his wings where his tail should be. Yep, Nugget doesn't have a tail and he looks like a chicken nugget.
One day he had a tail and the next day he didn't and we don't know what happened to it. We suspect he may have been attacked by a bloody cat and lost his tail during his escape.
Interestingly, it doesn't seem to have any effect on his flying ability.
