Juvenile Noisy Miner by terryliv

Juvenile Noisy Miner

First addendum to my week of birds in our backyard.

I am pretty sure this was one of the juveniles in the family of Micky Birds.
Another fabulous shot and details, such interesting looking birds.

Wonderful! The only Minah bird I have seen was in a pet shop right by the bus stop when I was catching the bus to school ( yes very many years ago) . As I waited for the bus every morning I could hear the birds loud whistle and then it would start shouting “good morning “ and other things I couldn’t repeat! What a laugh! Very clever birds! He was black though but I suppose he must be related to your Minah bird?

@pamknowler They are unrelated Pam. The origins of the name is reputed to be that their faces with the yellow patch surrounded by black looks like a coal miner at the end of their shift when they removed their goggles.

The noisy part of the name speaks for itself

His head looks so small for his body. I love your description of how he got his name.
