Another Refugee by terryliv

Another Refugee

We did a bit more tree pruning on Sunday and ended up with another refugee that I had to rescue and find a new home for. No idea what sort of spider this is but he was rather large
Stunning macro detail Terry, lovely composition, don't know what type it is only know to keep your distance from all creepy crawly things in Oz lol;)

I could be wrong, but I think its a golden Orb spider. They can grow very large, and I think there is a video of one of these on YouTube eating a bird. Awesome macro by the way. And good on you for finding it a home instead of squashing it.

What a strange creature. I admire your nerve to photograph it and rescue it.

Fantastic shot and I agree with Kane I think it is a golden orb too and yes they do grow huge don't they. I had one crawling up my arm as I was bringing the washing in off the line one day. Did you hear the scream in Brisbane?

I too think it might be a golden up spider. We have them here in Florida or as well but I didn't realize they grew large enough to eat Birds. I heard to that their bite was Venomous.

Great capture, but I still don't like spiders.

I agree that it is probably a garden orb, they are certainly out and about. A big fav for the image and that you relocated this beauty rather than " eeeek a spider, squash it ":)))

I agree, it's a golden orb, you can see the golden web behind her. It looks really pretty when you see it with a bit of sun on it.

Impressive macro shot of this eight-legged creature. And how nice of you to help her relocate after the pruning was done. Sweet guy, you are.

Oh boy, close encounter

Yes it's a golden orb Terry, neat shot. My husband informed me yesterday that he thinks we have Funnel Webs in the garden as he saw lots of webs yesterday. So now I am freaking out as the males are on the move looking for females at the moment.
