We did a bit more tree pruning on Sunday and ended up with another refugee that I had to rescue and find a new home for. No idea what sort of spider this is but he was rather large
I could be wrong, but I think its a golden Orb spider. They can grow very large, and I think there is a video of one of these on YouTube eating a bird. Awesome macro by the way. And good on you for finding it a home instead of squashing it.
Fantastic shot and I agree with Kane I think it is a golden orb too and yes they do grow huge don't they. I had one crawling up my arm as I was bringing the washing in off the line one day. Did you hear the scream in Brisbane?
I too think it might be a golden up spider. We have them here in Florida or as well but I didn't realize they grew large enough to eat Birds. I heard to that their bite was Venomous.
I agree that it is probably a garden orb, they are certainly out and about. A big fav for the image and that you relocated this beauty rather than " eeeek a spider, squash it ":)))
Yes it's a golden orb Terry, neat shot. My husband informed me yesterday that he thinks we have Funnel Webs in the garden as he saw lots of webs yesterday. So now I am freaking out as the males are on the move looking for females at the moment.
