Poinciana 2 by terryliv

Poinciana 2

This tree is in Zillmere and is a much older and larger tree. While they don't grow very tall, they can develop an enormous spread and like the Bougainvillea and the Jacaranda, they are great in someone else's yard.
The structure of the old limbs is fantastic.
The trees in the Brisbane suburb that has best Poincianas are not in flower yet. Hopefully I will be able to get a shot of them later.
Best on black
Wow what a wonderful tree - love the shape of it's branches!!

A wonderful specimen Poppo :)

Looking at the ground I can guess why you say they are best in someone else's yard.

@joansmor great shot Terry, and I think I am right in answering Joan by saying that they make a mess on the ground and require a lot of cleaning up. Better for someone else to do it :)

@joansmor @karlow75 You're partly right Kane. Thy also develop large buttress roots that crack and lift concrete paths pipes etc.

Absolutely amazing! I've never seen a picture of these so you can well imagine how Wow'd I am right now. The trunk and limbs are themselves incredibly interesting but with that canopy of red, all the more beautiful.

You asked if we're getting the snow that others here in the States are; No. It's just brown here. It snowed a little last week which is, for me, the earliest it's ever snowed in November since I've lived here. As much as I like snow, I don't think I want some 2 meters of it at a time.
