As kids, we always called these birds Leatherheads but they also go by the name of Noisy Friarbird. They are a honey eater with a prominent bump on the base of their bill and have an unusual cackling call. They were everywhere in the grevilleas on Straddie

That's another new bird for me!! Great red eyes!! That plant looks interesting too - a bit like a bottle brush plant? I learn something new most days on 365!! LOL!!

He's an unusual looking character but quite striking when perched on that beautiful flowering bush. You have the coolest birds there.
