Backyard Orion by timerskine

Backyard Orion

(Best on black) The dogs have this annoying habit of waking me up at o'dark-thirty. It's a carryover from when I was working and my alarm went off at 5am. I retired about 18 months ago but they still want to go outside before sunrise...a request that's foolish to ignore.

Anyway, when I let the little #@*$&!s out this morning I looked up and saw Orion looking back down on me. I went and got my camera and tripod. This exposure shows Orion with his belt just right of center. Our sweetgum tree is on the left, its color showing up as orange due to the streetlights on the road behind our house. The streaks in the upper right are high, wispy clouds that were sneaking in from the west.
Hey - great Orion shot. The stars are sharp even at 15 seconds, was this with the Nikon 18 - 55 kit lens?

@jon_lip Thanks! It was my Tamron* 18-400 lens that resides on the camera.

*My computer tried to autocorrect this to a feminine hygiene product :-o I was lucky to see it before posting!
