The Missus and I visited Maymont, a 100 acre historical estate built by a late 19th century railroad magnate. The mansion and gardens are preserved and open to visitors. The ground also house a nature center, where injured or orphaned animals that cannot be re-wilded have a forever home.
One of the animals enjoying the easy life of a sanctuary forever home is this black bear. When we got there it was enjoying a swim in the June midday heat.
@ggshearron Kindness, or hunger. This one is here because it kept getting too close to humans and their "pick a nick baskets." It got relocated twice away from people and when it came back a third time it was going to be euthanized. Somebody interceded on its behalf and here it is with three hots and a cot...and it's own pond!
