The Dance Ends

Aboriginal legend says Buralga was a beautiful dancer who spurned the attentions of an evil magician. Angered by her response to him, he used a whirly-wind to sweep her up in a cloud of dust and turn her into a beautiful crane that we call - Brolga.
Brolgas are often seen dancing. With their wings half open, they step forward and back on their long legs , bowing and bobbing their heads, picking up sticks and grass and tossing them about and sometimes leaping up to a metre in the air to float gracefully back to the ground on their big, broad wings. When the dance stops they throw back their heads and trumpet loudly.
how lucky are you to see this! Fantastic Margaret!

@jenrobcarr A very lucky shot. They fly over our house every morning and evening from their resting spots on the swamp to these farms where they graze during the day. They are very alert and always seem to know when you are there and move out of camera range so fast on those big, long legs.
