Has she gone yet? The first of a mini-series of water birds shot on the lake. ( Refer to yesterday's upload -20th)
The flock fled but these three Pacific Black Ducks dropped back in briefly and cruised by to check if I'd gone. The black duck is probably the most prolific of our native ducks and is found all over Australia. They are surface feeders and can often be seen in the typical upended pose of ducks feeding. However they also graze and are drawn to the lushness of surrounding lucerne paddocks and flocks of forty to fifty or more birds are quite common on the farm when we're irrigating.
