The visit is over and peace reigns again. After a busy weekend of cattle work we rewarded ourselves with a quick trip over to 1770 to give the kids a swim at the beach. Its an hour and a quarter's drive each way but worth it. It is such a lovely spot. The town is actually called 1770 (Seventeen Seventy). It is the site of Captian James Cook's second landing on Australian soil in May 1770. When my children were very little, I was standing on top of Round Hill recounting the story of Cook's landing to the four of them when the youngest piped up, "That's his thong down there, eh Mum?" A rubber thong or flip flap was floating around in the flotsom at the base of the cliff - I don't think he'd fully grasped the concept of time!!!
Didn't take any shots at 1770 today so tried to grab some quick ones while the kids stretched their legs before continuing their journey home. None were of much quality so I've tried to hide the faults with this fun collage of "madam in Grandad's hat at the end of a great weekend together.
