This red bellied black snake, a highly venomous but rather placid snake, had me in his sights this morning as I wandered up the creek. He never moved a muscle while I stood in the water and photographed him on the bank. He had already taken up his defensive pose of flattened body by the time I saw him. After several shots I made a very quiet but cautious retreat.
I will never have this kind of shot, I would have departed extremely quickly. Beautiful snake, too close for my liking!
