Begun in 2002 in the hope of revitalising our district which was in the grip of economic and social decline, the Boyne Valley Community Discovery Centre is an accommodation centre catering for travellers who need a place to stay while discovering the cultural and historical heritage and environmental treasures of the our valley. Built over ten years by volunteers using only money sourced from grants, it is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of community members. This is where I spend many hours working as a volunteer.
This weekend is a holiday weekend for Queenslander's who have a public holiday today to honour the Queen's birthday. We have a very energetic group visiting. They climbed Mount Larcom yesterday and are today walking our railway line which has been closed recently but has a series of interesting tunnels to walk through as it works its way up the Dawes Range to Kalpowar.
June word - hope
