Volcanic Shapes

I've had a few days break down on the Sunshine Coast with this glorious view from my unit balcony - the Glasshouse Mountains.
Aboriginal legend says Mt Beerwah on the right is the preganant mother of Mt Coonowrin on the left. They are two of twelve volcanic cores that rise from the flat plains 70km north of Brisbane. These peaks have taken 27million years to erode into these unique shapes. 27 million years. It just rolls off the tongue but is it possible to really grasp the concept of how long ago that is?
Gosh what a fabulous view - love the shapes all through it. What a marvellous view for reflecting on time immortal...!

Beautiful. Great composition, and I love the contrast between the ancient mountains and the modern buildings.
