These words are borrowed from the song title of a song that tells the story of a much more serious issue - the Gurindiji's struggle for aboriginal land rights. Written by Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody the song tells the story of the Gurindji people's long struggle between 1966 and 1975 beginning with their walk off from Wave Hill station in the Northern Territory. It began as a battle for wage rights and ended in the gaining of land rights. In 1975 Prime Minister Gough Whitlam symbolically poured a hand full of sand on to the land as he told group leader Vincent Lingiari that the land belonged to his people forever.
Margaret, I love your E is for Egg pictures. We follow the circle from eggs to poult to mature turkey. Great story. Then you give us a very appropriate quote for the collage and swerve into a story of a people's struggle for their land. What a great connection. Thanks.
E is always for egg as a child, although E could be for elastic at my age today, well I have to keep my draws up Margaret. Lovely collage and captures.
What a wonderful collage, Margaret! There's a lot more color on the turkeys than I would have imagined. Thanks so much for following me -- I look forward to following you and seeing your beautiful shots of Australia!
