Some of the local ladies who entered the Fashions in the Field event we held in association with our Melbourne Cup luncheon. One of our members (in black with gold accessories) was judged the winner. However the real winner was the young jockey who won the real Melbourne Cup - Michelle Payne. She is the first woman rider to win the cup in its 155 year history and her story is well worth an internet search. A remarkable young woman of whom we Australian's can be very proud.
What an interesting collage, and what effort in dressing up! I see why the classy gold and black outfit won. I also admire the way the black and white outfitted person knows how to stand! I need to learn from her. I always hate how I stand in photos.
@jyokota she made several of the hats worn on the day. Two can be seen here -her own which is based on two black cubes and the girl in red is wearing a spectacular b&w feathered creation. She is one talented lady.
Great group of beautiful ladies! yes we are all so proud of Michelle and her great win. I've covered this event too as the horse was trained here in Warrnambool :)
