Precious the Dachshund

Meet Precious. As I walked up to the bus stop to pick up my daughter from school, Precious and her "mom" were out getting the mail. Like a good 365er, I had my camera around my neck, actually looking for the neighborhood Cooper's hawk that has been terrorizing the neighborhood. Instead I fulfilled my get pushed challenge by @momsta of taking a "close up shot of a furry animal, domestic or otherwise." Precious is 9, and as I learned, was brought into the household shortly before her "daddy" passed away. He was retired at the time and Precious was the apple of his eye, so to speak. Her "mom" mentioned how fast this time has passed with Precious, and she doesn't know what she'll do when she goes. It was a sweet moment. This fierce stance is Precious eying a Golden Retriever coming up the road, ready to defend her territory. I intend to give a print to "mom."
A lovely portrait -- you captured her expression so well, and I love the gleam of her coat.

@momsta this opportunity came unexpectedly today - it's a sweet story even if it lacks some artistry...

@taffy thanks Taffy - you really are quick! It's so nice to know I can count on feedback from you!

@vankrey Some would say "quick" while some (e.g., Jim) would say "obsessed! addicted! out of control!"

A beautiful portrait of "Precious" that her "mom" will treasure, for sure! Shows such personality in the stance and the glaring (towards that other dog).

Adorable! - and that is sweet, you should definitely give mom a copy.

Wow, gorgeous and, in a way, touching picture of this Precious dog. Great capture!

Stunning picture! I love that it's a bit of street photography, with a story to tell too! Well done!

Great doggy portrait. Looks like Precious is no pip-squeak!

What a little sweetie! My daughter walks three of these for an elderly couple, and we are always amused at Smudge's 'Napoleon complex' as he gets so outraged at the presence of bigger dogs..!
