glowing tracks at arashiyama by vankrey

glowing tracks at arashiyama

Japan is full of surprises. On the Picture Japan trip, we walked around the romantic Arashiyama area of western Kyoto. The bamboo groves, Togetsu-kyo (bridge), and on our way home, we stumble upon a new installation of kimono cloth lit up in luminescent posts at the Keifuku Arashiyama train station. Hundreds of them. We were so enchanted. I took a walk around and found this lovely reflection of the kimono posts on rail lines wet with new rain. I wanted to capture the warmth of the glow through this shot (and had to jump off the tracks once as a train came into the station).

Fabulous shot!!! I love your eye -- I never even saw this when we were there. It's a brilliant way to show how the kimono columns repeated the pattern of the tracks, and the shine of the just-after-the-rain timing. That little reflection on the tracks is icing on the cake.

This is really cool Michael! Great point of view of the tracks with a hint of the orange light.
