Hollyhock by wendyfrost

Hollyhock

A single flower open on one of my hollyhocks with the evening sun shining through the petals
Pretty! Like how the light shines through the petals.

Love backlighting, it makes the color so luminous.

I love the large flower of the hollyhock, although a garden flower they are also found growing wild particularly in small towns just at the edge of the pavement. This is a great shot with the light shinning through.

@nataliemac Thankyou for looking Natalie very much appreciated. I love all plants and flowers having been a florist most of my life. I prefer to buy a plant for the garden which gives me pleasure hopefully for years as opposed to cut flowers which only last a couple of weeks at the most. When I was a florist I saw large amounts of money spent on flowers and always thought it so sad they were so short lived.

@wendyfrost I couldn't agree with you more. The last few flowers I've received have been potted, which means I get to enjoy them for a very long time, over and over again.
