Buttonbush grows all over the swamp at Asbury Woods. They were just starting to bloom when we walked back there today. They are really fascinating . . . sort of like dandelions (but not fluffy) or fireworks or a pincushion. The seeds (which are the little green balls) are supposed to look like old-fashioned buttons. I've never seen a button like that (but I'd like to!). The seeds are eaten by ducks and other shorebirds.
