I took a shot of two homeless people on the street, it upsets me so much when I look at it. I cannot post the shot. it is just too emotionally hurting.
I agree. I have toyed with taking shots of street people, but it somehow feels like you're taking advantage of their predicament. A personal choice, because they can be powerful photos. Do like that wink in this one, tho!
A lot of street photographers follow the rule of never taking pics of the homeless and for the most part I tend to avoid it also.
Anyway love this capture which works well with the dark background.
I think you have used good judgment on whether or not to post your street shots. It seems that people are becoming more and more desensitized to sorrow and suffering. But to have compassion sometimes means restraint and I admire you for choosing to find a different picture to post when it would have been easy to turn a blind eye to those in need. Frances is a lovely and funny substitute!
Sweet Frances--she is so funny with her "mean kitty" face! You've posted so many unique characters from your street scenes--they all express their own kind of beauty, too. I understand listening to your heart if a post seems wrong, though.
I agreewith you. Perhaps I took pictures of homeless in the past now I don't. Few days ago I see three teenagers aimed with semi-pro cameras, taking pictures of a homeless laying on floor, slept, maybe drunk, i don't think we can call them "street photographers". You may gift your pet with some delicatessen for his help ;)
