@motherjane I know what you mean Jane. That was my dream too, when I first bought it, I was very new to looking after plants etc. so after about four plus years I became disheartened with it and dug it up, and moved it to the side of the house, against garden shed where it is 'not' easily visible from the house. There it stayed for several years with no attention whatsoever, so by the time I realized it was about to flower it was very well established. so I thought I would leave it alone in case it set it back again. Not imaging as well as plumping out it was growing up, up, and up over the shed , and into the Cherry blossom tree (which is some 20-30ft high) therefore I, cannot say I have ever had any problems with the pruning. It does look beautiful tho'. It is possibly 20+ yrs now.
