Pearson H. Tribe is my husband's 2nd-Great-Grand Uncle, who fought in the American Civil War. Some of his military records spell his first name as Pierson. He enlisted in the New York State Militia on December 6, 1861, and served in Company G, 64th Infantry Regiment. He became ill, likely with malaria, and was mustered out on April 10, 1863. He returned to the family farm in Halsey Valley, Tioga County, New York. He succumbed to his illness and passed away on December 11, 1863, and is buried in the Halsey Valley Cemetery, Tioga County, New York.

His brother, William Tribe, had joined the New York State Militia on the same day as Pearson, and served in Company H of the 64th New York Infantry Regiment as a "Wagoner". William was killed in the Battle of Fair Oaks on June 1, 1862, and is buried in the Seven Pines National Cemetery in Sandston, Virginia.

Their brother John T. Tribe, enlisted on August 22, 1861 and served in Company G, 5th New York Calvary. He received the Congressional Medal of Honor for "distinguished gallantry in action at Waterloo Bridge, Virginia on August 25, 1862." He mustered out on July 19, 1865, and returned home to the family farm. He passed away on December 4, 1917 in Barton, New York, and is buried in the Halsey Valley Cemetery, near Pearson's grave.
