Early in my project I took this terrible photo of the Washington Monument and got a parking ticket in the process. I had to fix the pic somehow and heavy vignetting was my choice. I like how the monument looks like it's sitting in the middle of overgrown weeds - a sort ot day-after effect.
And here is my second cliche - "the phrase". I dont' have any others but that's only because I don't know how to do the other stuff.
@pwallis what the heck did you do that sweet childs eyes.
@cfitzgerald while we are all probably guilty of most of these (nope, no watermark or heavy tilt from me though). I think the key is to learn the technique, know you can do it and then sometimes walk away. I am going to try "Batch Editing" as paint shop calls it which others may call hdr this weekend, and then I think once I learn it I will be done with it.
@brumbe Personally, cliches don't bother me. I think it's fun to learn the craft, as you said. Yes, they do get overdone and we are all guilty of them. On the other hand, it is SUPER fun to play. This thread is just meant to poke a little fun at ourselves as well as share the article that made me think of our 365 community today. :-)
@amyhughes Haha! Yes, I guess I like to tilt to the left! People always comment on my angles and I don't even realize it....I just automatically do it! I think it makes things look more interesting:)
@cfitzgerald I actually showed someone a selective color photo they were in and he asked me why he was in black and white. I could not post one at work since I cleaned off all my personal photos a month ago. I will post later.
Two of my favourite photos from my project use two of these. My selective colour one is very subtle though, and the HDR is not over saturated, but I think they still count...
Selective Colour
HDR
I use HDR a lot, actually, but I realised quite quickly that it tends to look better the more subtle it is. Most of the time - exceptions do occur.
Peter seems angry haha...I think I've only done one of the cliche's, selective color! Well I have an HDR setting in an app that I use all the time but it isn't really HDR so neener neener neener!
;-P
Selective colour i do a bit but i find even though its a cliche my friends (who i take pics for!) seem to really love it, is it just the photography world who doesnt like it?
Dutch angle:
I won't even go there with the heavy vignetting... I do that way too often!

I over saturated this one, although I did like the color outcome though!
;-P
Oh I found one with SC and heavy vignetting!!
OK this one has both too lol...
Tilt:
This was my first and only vignette, never done it before and i dont know if i like it (feel free to critique it!) i tried to only do it very lightly.

Genereally i straighten everything, this is the worst crooked shot i could find, did on purpose and it looks horrid!
tilt and HDR, really bad ;-)
