I don't normally post much and keep fairly quite while admiring all the wonderful talent on the wonderful site but I felt I had to share my best photography day I've ever had.
Today I had the opportunity to go up in an ultralight and photograph le Coeur de Voh (Heart of Voh). The coeur was made famous by Yann Arthus-Bertrand in his book 'la Terre vue de ciel' (Earth from Above). Sponsored by UNESCO he took ariel photos around the world from helicopters or hot air balloons.
I'm glad I did my research beforehand into the type of lens and settings I would need. Space was at a minimum and trying to adjust settings was not the easiest. I took just one lens because of lack of space plus I didn't want to drop anything!
As well as taking photos of the coeur we flew over some of the beautiful reef that goes around this pacific island. I even flew the ultralight although I don't think I will take up the offer of lessons.
I would also just like to say that I probably wouldn't have done this if I hadn't started this project late last year and found this wonderful site and all you wonderful kind and supportive people. So thank you all.
It sounds like you had a perfect day! You got an awesome photograph out of your new adventure. I agree, being on 365 pushes me to go places I wouldn't normally and it is so much fun.
Holy guacamole!! Never heard of that but so amazing and I can only imagine your exhilaration before, during and after the flight. Will be popping over to your page to fav this and see if your have any other shots from the flight up. Agree 365 makes you do things you never would have before!
Wow and wow and wow!! What an amazing adventure to have!! And I loved this shot. Congrats on being brave enough to take advantage of this opportunity - and then to make it work for your photographs today!
Sorry for the bulk reply but I just wanted to say thank you all for your wonderful response to my amazing day. This is the reason I love this place and wanted to share my experience. I am still smiling from all the lovely comments.
Btw I am always happy to be a tour guide if you ever come and visit my little island in the Pacific.
